Forest certifications
Forest certifications are the result of consumers’ growing need for international markets in which wood products are made from forests that are responsibly and sustainably managed from ecological as well as social aspects.
In brief, consumers and, more generally, public opinion, request that the origin of the wood used to make finished products can be traced and declare a preference for wood products from forests that are managed in a way that is sustainable and certified by independent organizations.
(The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) is a non-governmental, non-profit international organization. FSC® represents an internationally-recognized system of forest certification.
The aim of certification is responsible forest management and the traceability of derived products. The FSC® logo guarantees that the raw materials used to make the product came from responsibly managed forests in accordance with the principles of the two main standards: forest management and chain of custody.

The Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC) is a system of certification for the sustainable management of forests.
Its objectives include improving the image of forestry and the forest-wood supply chain by providing a marketing tool that enables the sale of wood and wood products derived from sustainably managed forests.
